.....Well this is an exciting
prospect... a little scary too! More than a little, because I have not ever traveled and explored on my own.
.....Lots of experience being the passenger though. Navigation and map skills, plus reading the street signs... that's been my forte. But I'm
alone now. (Read more about it at
"My Widow's Walk")

.....This is a whole new thing for me. Yet.... never fear! I have a friend, and he gives me confidence. He will help me if I get lost (which I will, as past experience shows), patiently talk me through my mistakes, misunderstandings, and miscalculations.
....."Who is this wonderful helper?" you ask. [continued at right - "Wonderful Helper???"]

Garden of Glass!

This morning  JW and I went to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, with Mr. G's kind assistance of course.  In addition to the  beautiful flowers, plants, and butterflies,  we saw a wonderful display of Chihuly Glass.

These huge art-glass pieces were displayed in amongst the desert plants, all through the garden. We enjoyed our walk through the various trails and arbours, and were surprised over and over again as
 we encountered the
massive delicate structures of flowering glass nestled in the sand and rock of the landscape, or hanging under trees and shade canopies.

This trip is worth an additional 24 miles of GPS-assisted driving, and here you will find it noted , along with a map reflecting our route to and from this special event.

That sounds like fun too! I became acquainted with Chihuly glass works when I worked for the museum, and they were raffling off a piece during a fundraiser. Really delicate looking.
