.....Well this is an exciting
prospect... a little scary too! More than a little, because I have not ever traveled and explored on my own.
.....Lots of experience being the passenger though. Navigation and map skills, plus reading the street signs... that's been my forte. But I'm
alone now. (Read more about it at
"My Widow's Walk")

.....This is a whole new thing for me. Yet.... never fear! I have a friend, and he gives me confidence. He will help me if I get lost (which I will, as past experience shows), patiently talk me through my mistakes, misunderstandings, and miscalculations.
....."Who is this wonderful helper?" you ask. [continued at right - "Wonderful Helper???"]

A Little Trip to Where.....?

I started out, mid-morning, heading for some quality time at the Heard Museum. Mr. G was storing the correct address, and just to be extra-prepared, I printed out the Google map that showed the entire route from FVT to my destination. OK... here we go.

So I'm driving.... and driving.... and following directions... or I thought I was. Traffic was pretty heavy, and I did miss one turn, but Mr. G straightened me out. But then I did an unthinkable thing... What? you ask. I tried to make an adjustment on the Garmin screen while I was driving. Apparently I adjusted some unknown entity that totally changed the destination I had planned for.

So I'm dri
ving and driving and not getting any closer to the Heard Museum. As a matter of fact, it looked like I was getting closer to home! I just didn't recognize the fact for a while because I was on so many different unfamiliar freeways!

So after 45 minutes of driving, I wasn't in the mood to try for the museum again, but I was passing Riverview Plaza, and decided to stop there. After all, it was another one of my wish list destinations. And that's what I did. I stopped, parking in a place that would be easy to find later, and decided to check out the movie theaters.

Making a long story short, I went to a movie and enjoyed it a lot. It was a Disney film called 'UP'. Very cute.... not just for kids. Then back to the car. Drove around the mall for a while, checking out the stores. (Actually, that isn't quite true.) I was lost at the mall and could not find the right exit to get me back onto familiar streets for 15 minutes. Don't laugh! I just chalk it up to more practice driving and finding my way out of another paper bag.

Then home again, the driving adventures done for the day. But I do intend to visit the Heard Museum some other day. I won't give up on that destination! I'll be On the Road Again!
