.....Well this is an exciting
prospect... a little scary too! More than a little, because I have not ever traveled and explored on my own.
.....Lots of experience being the passenger though. Navigation and map skills, plus reading the street signs... that's been my forte. But I'm
alone now. (Read more about it at
"My Widow's Walk")

.....This is a whole new thing for me. Yet.... never fear! I have a friend, and he gives me confidence. He will help me if I get lost (which I will, as past experience shows), patiently talk me through my mistakes, misunderstandings, and miscalculations.
....."Who is this wonderful helper?" you ask. [continued at right - "Wonderful Helper???"]

WOW!

Who was that  I saw driving to Fountain Hills this morning? And was that the same individual I saw admiring the desert view while driving through McDowell Mountain Park on the way to the little town of RioVerde? YES! You guessed it...It was me! (with my faithful companion and guide, or course.)

Driving through desert country in the morning is beautiful, and the mountains were so clear against that bright blue sky. Each saguaro cactus stood at attention as we passed... or so it seemed. I made the freeway changes OK, and have decided that Mr.G knows what he's talking about. "It takes a little while to trust a machine," she whispered...

On the way north, I just drove through Fountain Hills and headed up through the park area to Rio Verde. It's a nice little retirement town, totally dedicated to golf.

Then I turned around and headed back to Fountain Hills, where I had some lunch and looked around a little shopping center. Then back to the car and "We" headed for home.

All in all, it was a successful outing... and even if I became disoriented a couple of times, Mr.G  kindly set me straight (after "recalculating"). Today's navigational practice was a real confidence builder! (because I truly didn't always know exactly where I was, but Mr.G did.)

Trusting a 'machine' is not always easy, as with a hand held GPS, some times we think that we know better, but in the end usually the manine is correct. Have fun with your adventures, and if you really get lost we are here to help.
