.....Well this is an exciting
prospect... a little scary too! More than a little, because I have not ever traveled and explored on my own.
.....Lots of experience being the passenger though. Navigation and map skills, plus reading the street signs... that's been my forte. But I'm
alone now. (Read more about it at
"My Widow's Walk")

.....This is a whole new thing for me. Yet.... never fear! I have a friend, and he gives me confidence. He will help me if I get lost (which I will, as past experience shows), patiently talk me through my mistakes, misunderstandings, and miscalculations.
....."Who is this wonderful helper?" you ask. [continued at right - "Wonderful Helper???"]

Error! Error!

This was Youth Sunday at church, so our service was full of upbeat music, guitars and saxophones, soloists, skits and mini-sermons. The Youth did a good job, and all the practice that went into today's worship was worth it.

After church, I asked Mr.G to take me to a Basha's Grocery Store on McClintock, where I had never shopped before. No problem... he knew the address... and off we go, heading for Tempe. He directs me to Mesa Drive, then Broadway, then left on McClintock. So now I'm heading South towards Southern.

The store's address is 3115 S. McClintock. He says I'll be turning right into the store parking lot, so I do this when he tells me to, even though I see no Basha's signs in the area. I drive the length of shops and see vacancies and a Goodwill Thrift Store. No Basha's! How can this be? Maybe the store closed and Mr.G didn't know it???

Oh well, I pull back out of the shopping area and then accidentally see a Basha's right across the street. What's this? I am confused, but I turn in, do my shopping, and then head for home.

Now I've checked the store address on the Internet, checked the address on the receipt, and checked the address I keyed in to Mr.G. All the addresses for that store match, so I don't know why Mr.G gave incorrect information.

If anyone out there has any theories, I'm all ears. Because I don't want to think that Mr.G made a real mistake and gave me a wrong turn. I  would rather the mistake were my fault. Human error is more forgivable!

Our Mr. G, if we call him that, ALWAYS tells us to turn left out of our driveway . . . WRONG! Remember that machines are NEVER wrong, but they are programmed by humans and . . . well . . . you know that story! Do you need to download an update from the Garmin site? We did.
Love from Sis

Thanks Sis, I downloaded the most current stuff right after I bought him. The buyer is allowed one free download at time of purchase. I've checked some other internet maps that show Basha's on the correct side of the street. It just goes to show you that you still must be vigilant and keep using your brain. Lesson learned... Mr.G is almost perfect... just not quite 100%!! But I still love him.

I had the similar situation in Safford, but it was several blocks off, took us to bashas instead of walmart, ours will need an update.
