.....Well this is an exciting
prospect... a little scary too! More than a little, because I have not ever traveled and explored on my own.
.....Lots of experience being the passenger though. Navigation and map skills, plus reading the street signs... that's been my forte. But I'm
alone now. (Read more about it at
"My Widow's Walk")

.....This is a whole new thing for me. Yet.... never fear! I have a friend, and he gives me confidence. He will help me if I get lost (which I will, as past experience shows), patiently talk me through my mistakes, misunderstandings, and miscalculations.
....."Who is this wonderful helper?" you ask. [continued at right - "Wonderful Helper???"]

Thar's Gold In Them Thar' Hills!

That's right... gold! in the foothills of the Superstitions. I was there... so I know. "Where?" you ask...

Well you get on the freeway and drive and drive until you're past Apache Junction. Sooner or later you finally reach Goldfield Ghost Town. That was my destination today. I didn't find any ghosts, but I did take in a gold mine tour, had a bit of lunch, and checked out some of the buildings and shops in the historical replica of a by-gone boom town.

I enjoyed my visit, and came home with another postcard to add to my display. I've been trying to document my travels on a special folding screen I have set up in my computer room.

Also... another first... I took some pictures while I was out there. I have a little Canon digital camera now, and today provided some photo opportunities for me to practice on. I'll share them on the blog if they turn out OK.
So thank you Mr. Gee... You kept me pointed in the right direction... on the freeway and through some beautiful stretches of desert. It was a warm but satisfying day "on the road."
