.....Well this is an exciting
prospect... a little scary too! More than a little, because I have not ever traveled and explored on my own.
.....Lots of experience being the passenger though. Navigation and map skills, plus reading the street signs... that's been my forte. But I'm
alone now. (Read more about it at
"My Widow's Walk")

.....This is a whole new thing for me. Yet.... never fear! I have a friend, and he gives me confidence. He will help me if I get lost (which I will, as past experience shows), patiently talk me through my mistakes, misunderstandings, and miscalculations.
....."Who is this wonderful helper?" you ask. [continued at right - "Wonderful Helper???"]

Looking Ahead

I read from a devotional magazine provided by my church just about every day. It's called These Days. Today's devotional made me smile, and was so appropriate to my own recent travel experiences with Mr. G... I decided to include part of it in this blog. What follows is quoted from These Days, May 14, 2009.

God - Better Than a GPS

Whenever I travel, I always bring my friend, Maggie--my global positioning system (GPS). She can plan a route; she can direct me to points of interest or specific addresses. Maggie has gotten me through major cities. However, I trust Maggie to a point. Even with all her technology, she has still led me into dead ends and through dangerous neighborhoods.

[That is only a portion of the devotional, but you can see how closely it hit the mark for me today!] Curious about the rest of it? Find a copy of These Days for April, May, June 2009. [A Presbyterian Church could help you with that.] Then you can read the whole story about how God is better than... well you know...

On other travel topics... I take my car in to the garage for regular main-tenance "stuff" next Monday. After I know everything is ship-shape, top-notch, on-target, good-to-go... etc. I will plan for a little trip. Not sure where yet, but I know that the car's well-being is the first order of business. In the meantime, I'll continue explorations and practices that keep me fairly close to home.
